FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
COMMON PROVENT QUESTIONS
It really depends on the type of driving and condition of the engine, most people should get between 25,000km and 40,000km per filter element.
No! The ProVent® element is meant to be wet. The ProVent® works by coalescing the oil vapour particles from the crankcase, into droplets of liquid oil on the element, which in turn run down the element and collect in the drain tube connected to the base.
No, once it has reached the end of its service life it needs to be replaced.

Oil sweat will form around the bypass. On a ProVent® 200, this is around the edge of the lid. On a ProVent® 100 and 150 it is at the underside of the teardrop shaped bypass on the side of the body. For internally vented version of all ProVents its best to pop an outlet hose off the unit and check for oil sweat in the hose.

Review the vehicle specific instructions that came with your kit, or if your ProVent® was purchased by itself refer to the user's guide here.
Only if you plan to plumb the collected oil back into the engine crankcase. We do not recommend this.
The stainless steel mesh filter element is NOT a MANN+HUMMEL part and is only 15-25% effective, thus defeating the purpose of fitting a ProVent® in the first place.
COMMON PRELINE QUESTIONS
We recommend changing the PreLine element at half of the factory recommended service interval for the vehicle. For example, if the manufacturer recommends changing the fuel filter every 20,000km, we recommend changing the PreLine element every 10,000km. The life of the factory element should also increase to around 40,000km as the PreLine will be doing most of the work.
The threads in the PreLine 150 are M16x1.5. We have our own specially machined fittings to make installations as easy as possible.
No, once it has reached the end of its service life it needs to be replaced.
No!, This is very old technology, the PreLine uses a very sensitive water sensor with a light that is cabin mounted so you are notified the instant water is detected in the system.
